The first of its kind, a cookbook designed for two cooks, Two Hearts-Four Hands is a pioneering adventure and lighthearted approach to blending relationships with expanding food awareness, cooking and creativity. It applies the idea of creative camaraderie and the adage that “many hands make light work” in addressing the challenges of food preparation in our fast-paced lifestyle. It brings to your awareness the splendid idea of enjoying a date in the kitchen. Two Hearts-Four Hands structures cooking dates for you and anyone you would like to get to know better—a partner, lover, housemate, neighbor, friend, business associate, child or parent. Providing a fun, creative and delicious experience, it will guide you to how to put love into your food and food into your love at the same time. It will allow you the extra time for deeply nourishing yourself and your relationships.

The thirty menus are categorized into six sections that represent the mood and purpose of your date:

    • New Relationships
    • On the Wild Side
    • Parties and Celebrations
    • Keeping It Sweet – Dessert only dates

Each menu provides a list of ingredients, utensils, beverage complements, music to cook by, and occasional nutrition bytes. The pages are removable for convenience while cooking, and there are plastic sleeves to protect them. There is a planning checklist to help you prepare and organize the kitchen for two cooks.

The approach to the food is eclectic. While keeping within healthful guidelines, the recipes maintain the character of each type of cuisine. There is a wide variety with some of the meals simple and basic, some in-between and others rich and extravagant. The basic preparations can be done in approximately an hour (some meals require additional cooking time) and can be accomplished successfully by beginning cooks as well as more experienced ones.

The Appendix

It seems to me that our three basic needs – for food, security and love – are so mixed and mingled that we cannot think of one without the others. So it happens that when I write of hunger, I am really writing about love and the hunger for it, and of the warmth of it…and then, the warmth and richness and fine reality of hunger and love satisfied…and it is all one.
